Dan Corbin

Dan Corbin’s figurative sculptures, style wise, are a convergence of conceptual tendencies and the human figure. His sculptures allude to the age of change, primarily the changing relationship between man and culture. In Corbin’s intersection of figuration and conceptualism, past present and the future co-exist at he same moment, illuminating what it feels like to be alive during these times, with all its beauties, complexities, contradictions and possibilities.

Appropriating poses from pop culture and historical archetypes, Corbin adds a hip multicultural interpretation to his freestanding figurative sculptures. Superimposing a schematic of color patches, perpendicular and parallel lines in conjunction with embedded lead, cosmetics and found objects. Corbin’s contemporary figures are ripe with commercial and scientific associations.
