These lively, abstracted flowers in vases have a childlike quality.  The flowers are made from simple forms decorated with bold colors.  The vases are decorated with playful images reminiscent of Miro.  “The reflect sort of a child’s view of the world, how a child might think about life and death and the universe,” says Kvenild.  Fired to Cone 03 and Cone 05 glaze, the flowers combine wheel-thrown, slab-built and extruded shapes.  The artist states that his intention is “to create ceramic forms with rich, complex glazed surfaces like those found in Cubist paintings.  I use clay both as a canvas and for sculpture.”
